Holiday Review Kerala
In
this lush, tourist-friendly southern state, positioned between the Arabian Sea
and the Western Ghats, beaches, waterfalls, rice paddies and verdant green hills
create a postcard-perfect landscape. Houseboats traverse its many waterways,
providing an intimate look at its rural terrain. Rejuvenation programs through
Ayurveda à alternative, natural medicine à are popular here; the cool June and
mid-October monsoon seasons are considered ideal for healing therapies

Our Review of Kerala...The southern Indian
state of Kerala is a fascinating, peaceful, atmospheric region for relaxing
tropical beach holidays. Like Goa, Kerala offers stunning, gently shelving,
golden sandy beaches, swaying coconut palms, delicious food, exotic markets and
an incredible range of accommodation, from the simplest backpacker’s lodge to
charming houseboats and amazing, exclusive, luxury hotels. Kerala has the added
attraction of its famously sleepy, evocative backwaters, lakes and traditional
waterside villages: a beautiful lush, green region, perfect for lazy boat trips.
Friendly, laid-back beach resorts like Allepey, Kovalam and Varkala beaches
boast beautiful settings, offer superb watersports, and feature the typical
Kerala mix of relaxing Ayurvedic therapies, massage, yoga and meditation
centres. There are wonderful Kerala beaches and plenty of traditional Keralan
culture in quieter resorts like Chowara and Marari. Paravur and Poovar are ideal
for glorious, restful beaches and discovering the famous Kerala backwaters. And
for an absorbing insight into Keralan culture, explore the atmospheric markets
and beaches of the historic state capital Trivandrum.
Guest Reviews of
Kerala...“If you have found Northern India tiring, try Kerala. It
doesn’t get much more relaxing than this. Amazingly friendly people and the most
unforgettable atmosphere. Chowara beach was perfect for just lazing around.
Amazingly high standards for the price.”
Mrs B Hunter, Luton, UK
“Kerala is so relaxing because you switch
off completely from home. Top hotel service and fabulous beaches. Poovar was
just what we wanted. The local food is heaven for vegetarians. Didn’t want to
come home (especially in January!)”
Mr P Henderson, Burnley, UK
“A week is not long enough if you want to
relax on the beach and explore the backwaters and visit Cochin and Trivandrum
and the highlands and the religious and nature sights! We loved Kerala even more
than Goa. A great region if you’ve never been to India before because it’s so
laid back and unhassly. Lovely people”
