Honeymoon in Cochin: Cochin is the
commercial and industrial capital of Kerala. It is situated on the west
coast of south India in the beautiful state of Kerala.The state of Kerala,
is one of the most prosperous states of south India, flanked by the Arabian
Sea on the western side and the Western Ghats on the eastern side. Cochin
City is the most important city in Kerala.It is the second most important
city on the western coast of south India. Cochin is known as the Queen of
the Arabian Sea and the Queen of the Adriatic. It is 220 km from Trivandrum.
The direct flights connect Delhi, Bombay, Madras, Goa, Bangalore and
Trivandrum with Cochin. The direct trains are also available from Delhi,
Mumbai and Chennai.
Honeymoon in Periyar: Periyar is famous
for its National Park and Tiger Reserve, which is one of the most
captivating wildlife parks in the world. The centerpiece of the park is the
5,500-hectare Periyar Lake formed by the construction of a dam on the
Periyar River in 1895. Along the fringes of the lake are marshy areas with
tall grasslands. Periyar is a haven for elephants; herds of them can be seen
in a playful mood near the water holes. At Periyar large herds of Indian
Elephant can be seen with relative ease as well as Nilgiri Langur near
Aranya Niwas and the Lion tail Macaque in higher areas. The buses are
avialable from Thiruvananthapuram (271 km), Cochin (200 km), Kottayam (117
km) and Madurai (140 km). The nearest major rail junction is Kottayam. One
can also catch a bus after arriving at the nearest airports at Cochin and
Madurai.
Honeymoon in Munnar: Munnar is situated
at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathani &
Kundala. This city of south India situated at 1600 metres above sea level
was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South
India. It is one of the known hill stations of South India. Sprawling Tea
plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes, and holiday facilities make
this a popular resort town. Among the exotic flora found in the forests and
grasslands here is the Neelakurinji. The nearest airport and railway station
is at Kochi (130 km). It can also be reached from Madurai (6 hours) and
Coimbatore (6 hours) by bus.
Honeymoon in Kumarakom: The village of
Kumarakom is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake, and this
small water world is part of the Kuttanad region. The bird sanctuary here,
which is spread across 14 acres, is a favorite haunt of migratory birds and
an ornithologist's paradise. The best way to watch the birds of the
Kumarakom sanctuary is a boat trip round the islands. Kumarakom is an
unbelievably beautiful paradise of mangrove forests, emerald green paddy
fields, and coconut groves interspersed with enchanting waterways and canals
adorned with lilies. It can be reached from Cochin, Varkala, Periyar and
Kottayam by backwaters.
